Second Sunday of September This is the “big party”, dedicated to the patroness who is venerated in the church of Maddalena. Four days of celebrations and events. Piazza XX Settembre is artistically illuminated. Light music shows are held on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sunday and Monday the most renowned bands perform. Spectacular fireworks are lit over the harbour. A grand hot air balloon is launched on Sunday evenings. The key moment remains the fascinating gala procession, with the ceremony of the delivery of the keys of the city to the Madonna by the mayor. The event has been taking place for almost three hundred years every second Sunday of September, in the morning. The Feast of the Madonna attracts many tourists and foreigners and is an opportunity to meet the Molise residents abroad, especially in America.
